using up charlie und paulchen leftovers

Maybe you saw my CAS card set with a new-to-me trio of dies? Today's project uses the other part of those die cuts. I'm not even sure if these are the positive or negative pieces... All I know is I like both pieces ;)

Altenew inks

After I'd die cut, I trimmed around the organic circle shapes to get these squares. Adhered them in a wonky way and added a bit of fun stamping since Flora and Fauna Texture Two was still out on my workspace!

STAMPlorations inspirations #165

Welcome to a Tuesday inspiration from the STAMPlorations inspiration team where the team members feature stamps from one of our talented stamp designers.

Today we're showcasing Shery Russ stamps. If you haven't been to the store lately, all non-retiring products in the store are 10% off automatically from now through April (with an extra 20% off when you use my discount code STAMPGIRLMARIA).

Once again I'm creating my inspiration post project using this image from my Pinterest inspiration board and a trend that totally speaks to me - "Flat Abstract". Today's card was inspired by those two gals on the left.

Distress Oxides

Some coloring. Some stamping. Some ink-pad-direct-to-paper. Some paper trimming. A sentiment, a white die cut and a smidgen of washi. Flat. Abstract. Ya know?

If you're looking for more inspiration ... I had more fun with the butterflies on this card

You could win yourself a $10 GC to the store by leaving a comment on the February inspiration posts. Check out today's post here. So happy you stopped by :)

summer's in the air!

OK. Not really. But my venture into spring cards has led me right down the road to tropical cards. Actually it was the palm PP in this kit that gave me the idea.

There's the perfect palm branch stamp in Flora and Fauna's Flamingo Pool Party. The rest just happened! Boy, did I have fun creating these...

Studio Calico PP
Versamagic Pink Grapefruit ink
printed acetate
washi

Randomly stamped the palm branch. Then I added some Moonstone embossing paste through the hibiscus stencil at the top for extra oomph. Since things were sparkly I decided to add shiny too. The negative from the sentiment die was a leftover so I filled it with a positive cut from PP. Added the gold polka dot washi strip at the bottom too. I sure love dressing up this VW Van!!!

Then I upped the fun factor.

Studio Calico PP
Distress ink
Gansai Tambi watercolors
sequins

Used PP for the VW van. Stamped and no-line watercolored the pool toy then masked it and brushed on some Tumbled Glass before adhering the van. Watercolored a sheet of paper green and then cut the leaves from it. Sequins as headlights cuz why not?!?

spring is in the air - part 2

I've got spring on my brain. Can't help but think it's coming. One of these days.

And it helps that I got some happy mail from Alexandra Renke! Did you see yesterday's post? Back with more Cross in a Circle today.

Impression Obsession Easter Seals stamp

My apologies. The same sun that is making me all spring-y is also making photos of white cards extremely difficult! Here. Maybe you can see the heat embossed sentiment.

When's the last time you rounded a corner on a card?!?!?!

Impression Obsession Easter Seals stamp

And this last bit of gelli print was still laying around. Not anymore. This time with neon bunnies peeking through. I'm getting kind of tired of this design ;)

spring is in the air - part 1

Well, it's in my air at least! As I write this we have had sunshine and blue sky (and freezing temps) the whole week. Can't help but think spring is coming. One of these days.

It helps that I got some happy mail from Alexandra Renke with some springtime dies too!

I had some pastel-y scraps just waiting to make it to a card so I decided my new Wandering Rabbit would get his very own scene.

Simon Says Stamp Heart in a Box with Love die

With the exception of the lightly inked rabbit, everything else was leftover and added to a leftover dip-dyed-in-leftover-Easter-egg-dye panel.

And then I had to move on to the new Berries die. Not that there are neon pink berries anywhere I know of, but I wanted to use my leftover marbled cardstock from this bloom. This Easter card was born.

Channeling my inner Renke DT, I kept it very white. There's a sentiment there tho, see it white heat embossed along the left edge?

And then since Easter was on my brain, why not use this wonderful new Cross in a Circle die? Another leftover dip-dyed-in-leftover-Easter-egg-dye panel and some of the less neon-y berries and voila!

Hope you enjoyed. More coming tomorrow. A bit more neon-y...

sweet birthday and sweet memory

Today's cards came about as I was cleaning up my pile of scraps. A sweet somebody sent me this cute cupcake and those white hearts (Bev B, was it you?). I paired them with some other leftovers and this happened.

Nuvo drops

Ah yes. Nuvo drops. Anyone else have this problem? Better yet, anyone have a solution? When I squeeze the bottle on a couple colors, what comes out seems to be getting gooey, hardening up a bit maybe? See these nasty little peaks on the yellow ones? Do you store them standing or laying on the side? Do you shake them before using?

winnie and walter 4th birthday - scraps for baby card

Back with more cards for Winnie and Walter's 4th birthday bash. Yep more. And get this - they're all baby themed.

Did you see Kelly's challenge - Use Your Scraps ? Well I tackled the tower of scraps that has been threatening to tumble off my cabinet for the past few months! And this mini pile was part of the giant pile. I dip-dyed these tags and die cuts in leftover Easter egg dye last year!

Cotton crochet thread
Beads

And the last little pieces made their way to a card along with the leftover letters from this card. Some ink around the edges of the dry embossed card front tied the colors all together.

Distress Inks

Guess what? I'm done. My scraps aren't gone... but the mountain is much smaller! And I think I may have overstayed my welcome at Winnie and Walter ;) I sure love their challenges. Happy birthday, WW!

winnie and walter 4th birthday - scraps for easter cards

Hope I'm not boring you, but I'm back with more cards for Winnie and Walter's 4th birthday bash.

Guess which challenge? You got it - Mt Scraps is under attack again. Thanks to Kelly's challenge - Use Your Scraps I've been a busy beaver! Just to remind you... this is  was my Mt Scraps!

This first card utilizes a leftover from gelli printing (a homemade stencil). You can see the print on  this card. Those colors were just too scrummy to throw the leftovers away (that's how my brain works, anyway). So I adhered it to a 5x5 cardbase. Those three B/W eggs were scraps too - from this card - so they had to fill three of the negative spaces. The others got some stamping and the sentiment banner was a scrap too so I tacked it on too ;)

So also under Mt Scraps were a whole bunch of die cuts that I'd dip-dyed with leftover Easter egg dye. I grabbed the eggs and gave them a home. This, BTW, is what our dip-dyed real Easter eggs usually look kinda like!

Added some fabby spots to my cardbase before adhering the eggs. Then I stapled on a scrap "hello" negative and stamped the Happy Easter sentiment through the negative space.

If you haven't played along yet, wouldn't today be a great day to tackle your scrap pile?!? I'm joining the fun at:

ellen hutson pinsights challenge

Recognize which challenge I'm playing with?
This is the inspiration for the Pinsights Challenge over at the Ellen Hutson Classroom.

In the process of finally cleaning up Mt Scraps which had accumulated on my desk, I came across this succulent grouping which I'd heat embossed pink on vellum. Those succulents had caught my attention in the graphic, so I flipped the vellum over and hit it with some Distress Inks using a finger dauber.

Studio Calico PP
vellum
Evergreen Bough, Victorian Velvet, Shaded Lilac and Dusty Concord DI

Fussy cut a piece of white paper to back the vellum with so the colors showed better and then die cut the sentiment and inked it with the ink leftover on the daubers. A piece of PP for the card front and voila!

And then, cuz I have an on-going love affair with macarons but have yet to see any as beautiful as those in the graphic, I had to have a go at my take on that marble/swirl goodness. Gave it a go for my BG to accompany more die cuts from Mt Scraps. Which BTW you can see in this post.

watercolors
Nuvo drops

These navy/white blooms were also under Mt Scraps so I just added a little DI color to parts of them and adhered them to a cardbase I'd swiped some watercolor across. In the next shot you can catch the sparkle from the Perfect Pearl mist I hit it with too. BTW, the inside reads "for a happy birthday."

STAMPlorations inspiration #164

It's time for a Tuesday inspiration from the STAMPlorations inspiration team where the team members feature stamps from one of our talented stamp designers.

OMG did I have fun with this one! We're showcasing Dee's Artsy Impressions stamps.

See the image top row, middle? A challenge for sure, but check out my make.

Distress Oxides

Just had to decide how to "layer" my images. This is, however, a one-layer card!

Some masking. Some inking. Some stenciling. Some stamping. Some ink-pad-direct-to-paper. Some die cutting (sentiment). And a smidgen of washi - did you see it next to the XOXO. Love the tiny touch of gold it adds.

If you're looking for more inspiration ... I had more fun with the lilies on this card. And with the stencil on this card.

paper pieced peony

So this is one of those creations that had me LOL. Like, where the heck did that come from?

yellow embossing powder
embossing paste
Nuvo drops

This shot was in full sunlight so you can see the neon pink and that incredible sparkle

I actually made a card with this design ages ago and then again here and decided to update it a bit cuz I really wanted to participate in The Flower Challenge! And try out my new Tonic Glitter Paste (Moonstone). I heat embossed the peony onto a leftover from a marbling with acrylic paint session and fussy cut it. I'm calling that paper piecing ;)

charmed watercolor wonder

I just got the Altenew Charmed stamp set and when I looked at it, the blooms reminded me of the Watercolor Wonders stamp set, so I decided to try something...

Now it's been a while since I've played at the monthly Altenew challenge . I'm always drooling over all the gorgeous floral images and what people do with them, but can't pull that amazing coloring off myself so I tend to stay away. But I checked out this month's colors and then created a card.

I stamped the Watercolor Wonders blooms using Altenew inks, using the lightest three tones. I masked them and then stamped Charmed with black ink. Added a bit of greenery. The sentiment is from the set, the triangle border is Winnie and Walter Scenery Stripes 2.

Then I cursed myself for not making more while I was using my MISTI. So I decided to try the same design (needed a card for DD who began her studies today) but with the darkest three red tones. And sentiments from Label Love German.

Me likey. Have a preference? Thanks for visiting.
