valentines with scrap strips

I seem to find myself a theme when I make Valentines each year. I'm on a scrap strip adventure right now (avoiding the hard work of moving my craft room as I explained here) so that became my theme for this year.

Scrap strips, scrap cardstock and a glue stick. Made myself some "patterned paper" and then played with it.

Die cut a square of my "PP" with the love die and made cards with the negative and positive pieces. I'm entering the pink one into SSS Monday - Love is in the Air challenge.

Then I rediscovered a flop card die (NBUS) so gave it a run in a card for DD. Used some 6x6 PP from my stash (which could last me 120 years). I'm hooking this Clean and Layered one up over at The Card Concept #168.

Reverse Confetti Lovely Words die

And while I had that heart die in my hand from the flop card heart die, I cut two of them and made this, personalized with the couple's initials. It's actually going to Americans who live in Germany so I'm joining in at Pinspirational February Challenge.

simon says stamp - capital B beautiful

Spring has sprung. At least it has in the latest release from Simon Says Stamp called Hello Beautiful and there's lots to inspire you. Check it out here.

One of the dies in the new release is called Capital B Beautiful, how appropriate is that? It's a great size for a slimline card, but my first two cards show how it works on a landscape layout of an A2 card too. It's easy to combine it with  stamps or other word dies you already own. As you'll see, I what I love most about it is its shadow...

SSS Hello You stamp
SSS On Edge stamp
Charlie und Paulchen Hohlsaumrahmen die, Action Deutschland PP, alcohol markers, black embossing powder, washi, distress oxides

Fun tidbits about the cards?

The first packs a punch thanks to the rainbow colored shadow for the word die and the die (and sentiment) being shiny and raised thanks to heat embossing.

The second my CAS heart absolutely loves. The die cut shadow on the front allows the stacked sentiment (rainbowed) to peek through.

The third, well who doesn't love when pink, yellow and blue distress oxides yield a rainbow. I actually think I love this sentiment/shadow most in the B/W combo I used here.

Check out all the makes with the products from the Hello Beautiful release in the gallery here. And in case you missed them, check out the blog hops for more inspiration. Thanks for visiting.

make valentines with gelli prints

I've got a three-fer fer ya this two-fer weekend.

Huh?

Well, it's Valentine's weekend of course. And in my 'hood it's also Fastnacht weekend - Mardi Gras. Not much going on here compared to normal years, but I'm sure enjoying the live streams some of the different groups are putting on. It's kinda fun to sit on the couch in sweats and sing along with the Fastnacht hits without the costume/makeup/yelling across the table in filled-to-the-brim halls/hangovers stress of a normal Fastnacht!

Fastnacht in a nutshell if you'd like a little taste...

And the three-fer? I've got three Valentines made using up some gelli prints. Thanks for the challenge, Birte. These were leftover after this cardmaking session. Better to use 'em than stash 'em away again, right?

First up, for DD. Fun fact... DD die cut and embossed that smaller pink heart when she was little. I saved it ;)

This card is going to:
CAS on Friday - Love
Colorhues Challenge - red/pink
TimeOut Challenge - #181

This card is joining the fun at:

And this card goes to:

So. As card front, as die cut shape or just leftover strips as your background... put your gelli prints to good use! And HELAU!!!!

fun with funky fossil designs scandi home

Happy Tuesday! I had more fun yesterday with some new stamps from Funky Fossil Designs (I won a GC at Time Out and of course I had to pick up a few things while I was at the store ;).

My first play was with the Quirky Owls. Check them out here. I also picked up AdventureCheck those cards out here.

For today's cards I was playing with such a fun set - Scandi Home. You had me at Scandi. This first one just had to happen. IMO, nothing says Scandi better than red and white.

Red cardstock. White embossing. A fun rectangle die from Charlie und Paulchen. I put the message on the inside - a red heart and the sentiment "home is where the heart is" which is also from the stamp set.

My second card... well, the coffee and tea pot stamps reminded me of the kitchen art you see. Kind of 50s retro. So I grabbed some Altenew inks, masked the outside edges of the card front and did some stamping. Just mixed and matched the images and colors as I moved my way from bottom to top.

The colors are truer below - yellows and oranges.

Fun, fun, fun. Sarah is having a sale at Funky Fossil. 15% off until midnight tonight. Just sayin!

Thanks for stopping by. I'm stopping by at:

experimenting with stamping with real leaves

Maybe you saw my über CAS card stamped with real leaves? Today's post shares my first experiments with real leaves.

First I went out in the yard and picked various sized leaves from our Sweet Gum tree and the Smoke bush.

Then I grabbed the nearest PP pad (a recent purchase from Action - a dollar store) and a black Versafine ink pad. Inked up the reverse of the leaf and "stamped" it onto the corner of the PP panel. Clear embossed the images. Did this 4 times and then made 4 cards from the panels.

First up the Sweet Gum leaf.

Then the Smoke bush leaf.
This is such fun. I decided I liked the round leaf best. Keep watching to see what I did with it...

light and airy confirmation card

Stopping by today with a card I made for a confirmation. I was inspired by this card. Check out Silke's grid on IG if you're feeling in the mood for light and airy collage design... She does it like no one else.

I do not have as light a hand as Silke, but I used up a little more PP  ;)

Charlie and Paulchen Sommer Trio die
Heidi Swapp gold ink spray
Studio Calico PP

Basically, I just pulled out a PP pad and some dies which I thought fit the confirmation theme. Die cut some pieces and then spent way too much time arranging and rearranging them until I got something I was happy with ;)

Thanks for looking. Have a great week.

washi made me do it

Two more beachy creations for you.

I'm still captivated by the gorgeous Korallenriff from Charlie und Paulchen. And I have some pastel washi tapes that were begging for attention.

So thinking I'd mask a wonky rectangle, stamp images and then frame them with washi, I first made the mask.

Then I chose my images to fill the wonky rectangle based on the washi tapes. Then I stamped. Used a cream cardbase, which I ended up not liking so much. And yes, the images are kinda hard to see but pastel was the whole idea.

Because the washi frame gave the design a playful feel, I pulled out a fun Essentials By Ellen sentiment.

Liking the color combo, but the final result not so much, I tried it again on a white cardbase. And used Abandoned Coral DO for the coral. Duh! Me likey. This oh-so-dainty-but-oh-so-sweet sentiment reads "another year prettier" :)

Now me likey. Me hopey you likey too! Happy Thursday. Come back this afternoon for some fun with the new STAMPlorations release...

who wants mehrmeer?

Did you see my last post? I recently had the pleasure of meeting Carmen K. who is Ms Inkystamp and who also happens to live a few towns over. Needless to say I didn't leave without picking up a couple of her stamp sets.

I created two cards with Mehrmeer and here I've combined the sentiments from it with images from a new-to-me-but-oh-how-wonderful Korallenriff from Charlie und Paulchen. Ready for a walk on the beach? I'm so in love with this first card... Used two red tones for the crayfish.

washi

And then I had to pair the starfish with the sentiment that reads "in my heart I'm barefoot". Funned it up with masking and some "sand" made with an ancient texture stamp. And I felt the upper left corner needed something so it got two fun scraps tacked on.

Let me tell you, these stamp designs are so beautiful. If you need a classy ocean life stamp set...

25 days of christmas tags 2018 - part 1

Tracey's 25 Tags event came into my reader as I was pondering what to make for neighbor gifts this year... Now I know. And have already made a few sets of tags. Wanna see?

Without further ado, here are my first three.

For Day 2 with Altenew I was inspired by Norine's simple tags in kraft and light blue and made this set. And used up some PP ;)

Can you see the sparkle of the glitter CS and the glitter embossed sentiment? Such fun contrast to the kraft CS.

For Day 4 with Reverse Confetti I was inspired by Tracey's little gnome set in a cute scene. I used to be so afraid of little scenes, cuz they require coloring, but I bought myself a couple of "cute" sets with dies and am slowly expanding my horizons ;) This set is for the family DD babysits for. And did I mention how great it is to use up some of my PP stash!

For Day 5 with Newton's Nook, I loved the ornament shaker tags by Jennifer. When I thought about making ornament tags that could also be hung on a tree, I decided they needed to have lots of shiny gold. So I pulled out a PP pack with lotsa gold (did I mention how great it is to use up stash?!?) and these happened. Quite an exercise in engineering... how to include that dangling star embellishment between all the layers but in front of the acetate ...

Create a Smile Schone Bescherung stamp
craft foam
sequins

And these additional tags happened with the leftovers from the shakers!

I'll be back with three more tomorrow. So happy Tracey's challenge spurred me to create my neighbor gifts for Christmas in November! Thanks Tracey!
