STAMPlorations inspiration #176

It's time for our last inspiration post from the STAMPlorations DT where this month we're celebrating Spring with a "Things with Wings" theme. Have you joined us yet? There are prizes to be won!

I've another wonderful, mailable, nearly one-layer card today. Kingfisher goes Warhol-esque. (Sorry, Andy!)

distress oxides
white embossing powder
black thread

This card took a detour. I'd intended to mask the little birdies from the stamp set and stamp the artsy blocks over them. But I got ahead of myself and started stamping those lovely bold color blocks first. Then I remembered. So I thought I'd stamp the birdies B/W and fussy cut them. But I'd really wanted a one-layer design!

So I took another look at the stamp set and thought the kingfisher with all his sketchy lines would be strong enough to show up if I just stamped him right over the color blocks. When I hovered him over the card, trying to decide where to place him, I noticed that in this spot the green "colors" his breast, the yellow his head and a bit of red his beak. So I took that as a sign that it was OK to be lazy and just stamp him ;)

But then I decided that a sentiment lost in the color blocks might just be too lazy, so I heat embossed it and hung it as a sign from his beak with some thread. I like that little touch.

You still have time to make a project with wings and link it up at the STAMPlorations Blog Hop Linky Party for your chance at a GC. Throughout the month, all winged-themed products are 15% off -- no coupon needed. Grab my code from the sidebar to get 20% off on top.

make a rainbow wish

When the stars  rainbows align...

DD's 20th is this weekend, the CAS Watercolor challenge is ending shortly and I just got a gorgeous new die to play with. Ready?

distress inks
Pinkfresh Studio washi

I realize my ink-smooshed "rainbow" got a bit washed out. The yellow, blue, magenta turned into peach, blue, magenta. I think it's dreamy nonetheless.

I spritzed the panel with perfect pearls/water mix so it really shimmers. Added a strip of washi to my cardbase for a nice touch of gold. I used foam adhesive under the panel but then spent 15 minutes putting little pieces under all those little edges of the letters. (Next time I might die cut fun foam to make things easier.) I wanted the panel raised a bit to allow for some shadow play in the sentiment area...

Hope you likey. Have a great day!

spotlight on an easy shaker card

I'm over at STAMPlorations today with a tutorial for this easy shaker card...

STAMPlorations inspiration #175

It's time for another Tuesday inspiration post from the DT at STAMPlorations where this month for all of our challenges we're celebrating Spring with a "Things with Wings" theme. We'd love for you to join us. There are prizes to be won!

After my first two, die cut heavy creations with wings this month, I've gone back to those wonderful, mailable, lovely one-layer cards. Meet today's rainbowed bird.

distress inks
black gems

I used a rectangle die to make a mask for the outer edges of the front of my card. Then I stamped various branches around the outside edge, trying to cover nearly all of the edges so that when the mask was removed the center area would have the illusion of being framed. I love this technique! Then I used my MISTI to stamp the bird, inking it up with various Distress Ink colors (you can do this with your kids' water-based markers too) and spritzing with water before stamping. The sentiment and two black gems completed my design. EASY peasy.

CUTplorations may - reminder

Popping in with a reminder that our celebration of Spring with a Things with Wings party over at the May CUTplorations challenge at STAMPlorations is still going on.  Have you linked up yet? Here's the inspiration graphic.

Did you see my first card? Well today's card used some leftovers from that card. Would you agree is somewhat of an optical illusion? It's busy, that's for sure.

distress inks
computer generated sentiment

So in my first card I mentioned that the solid white butterfly was actually inlaid into the cover plate die cut... Well that filigrane butterfly you see here is actually the portion I die cut out of the swiped-with-distress-ink cover plate die cut I used for my first card. It's glued onto a solid butterfly. Which is glued on top of the cover plate die cut. The PC-generated sentiment snippets are tucked beneath it. And some of the random little colorful bits that I couldn't bear to toss are inlaid into the plain white cover plate die cut (which I adhered with spray adhesive. First time I tried that and man does it save time!) Somehow the gradient colors and the hint of layers gives me an optical illusion feel...

Here are both my cards:

Hope you'll join us for some die cutting fun this month over at the CUTplorations challenge. Link up  a project based on our inspiration using at least one die cut. Your project might be chosen as a winner of a $15 GC to the shop. There's more inspiration from the CUTplorations DT here.

simon says stamp sending sunshine release - summertime birthday

Have you seen the new release "Sending Sunshine" over at Simon Says Stamp? Nice and summery.  I received a wonderful typographical die to play with and man did I have fun! Did you see yesterday's journal cards?

Meet today's projects inspired by them. First up another journal card using the leftover letters from that leafy PP I used yesterday. Decided to stamp a light and airy green BG to go with the PP print and give the negative piece a touch of pink inks.

Altenew Inks

Liking that light and airy random BG so much, I decided to put it on a card front too while the stamps were on the block. Added the HB sentiment then too to make a birthday card out of it.

Well I hope you've enjoyed the results of my playtime with this one cool die. Thanks to Simon for sharing it with me. Check out the entire new release over at Simon Says Stamp and the release blog hop too.

simon says stamp sending sunshine release - garden party

Have you seen the new release "Sending Sunshine" over at Simon Says Stamp? Nice and summery.  I received a wonderful typographical die to play with and man did I have fun! Did you see my Malibu sunset inspired projects? Or the poolside ones?

Meet today's projects inspired by flora. Specifically lush green garden parties.

Lately I'm deceiving myself into thinking I may start scrapbooking one day soon, and I really think this die lends itself to journal cards. So I thought about the kinds of photos that are typical for summer. Usually lots of green grass in the photos. So I had to grab this beautiful PP with leaf images and make a beautiful, but neutral journal card.

And then I thought about other words you could create with all the leftover letters... and created the "Summer 2018" journal card. BTW, those numbers are actually gold! And, BTW... how about ME + U = US. Or Merrier. Or MUM. And of course Mer and Meer for the internationals... Lotsa possibilities.

So these Flora and Fauna stamps got me thinking about making a summertime birthday card... but you'll have to come back tomorrow for that one!

Check out the entire new release over at Simon Says Stamp and the blog hop too. I'm back with my last makes tomorrow.

And then, this die definitely makes me think of beach days too and cuz I'm deceiving myself into thinking I may start scrapbooking one day soon, I made a couple journal cards using an alcohol-inked blue scrap along with some beachy PP.

STAMPlorations inspiration #174

It's time for another Tuesday inspiration post from the DT at STAMPlorations where this month we're celebrating Spring with a "Things with Wings" theme. We'd love for you to join us. There are prizes to be won!

I was cleaning up scraps a bit ago, including a paper towel I'd used when playing with watercolors, and I decided to make a feather card with it.

white embossing powder
silver thread

I crafted my sentiment with a couple other die cuts that were laying around and added a touch of silver metallic thread around one of the feathers for a wispy touch.

guest designing at cupcake inspiration

There's a fun challenge being sponsored by STAMPlorations over at Cupcake Inspirations and it's all about Pastels. Wanna see the inspiration? Yum yum.

Wanna see what I made? Yum yum.

alcohol inks
acetate and fun foam
white embossing powder
sequins and glitter

First off I saw those watercolory swirls and they reminded me of alcohol ink marbling I'd done with blues and purples. Then those sugar sprinkles on the cupcakes made me think of glitter. So a sweet shaker card was born.

Die cut the smaller panel from my marbled piece and stamped some sweets onto it.

I even added some Distress Ink Rock Candy glitter to a couple spots on the stamped images to ensure sparkle even if all the glitter falls to the bottom. See it on the ice cream cone, the whipped cream on the cake and peeking out from behind the sentiment on the bottom edge of the popsicle?

spotlight on a rainbow twiggy wreath

Do you love wreaths as much as I do? Something about a twiggy wreath that pulls at my heart strings every time. I'm up on the STAMPlorations blog today with a tutorial for this card if you'd like to check it out.

I'm hooking up at CAS Watercolor where it's about Rainbows this month. I spritzed the entire card with perfect pearls/water mix to encourage the stamped Distress Inks to bleed a little and soften up. I love the look. I'm joining Craft Stamper's May Take it, Make it challenge too.

STAMPlorations inspiration #173

It's time for a Tuesday inspiration post from the DT at STAMPlorations where this month we're celebrating Spring with a "Things with Wings" theme. We'd love for you to join us. There are prizes to be won!

I was having a rainbow phase a bit ago and after I'd created my rainbow wreath for my Spotlight post later today over on the STAMP blog, I decided to stick to just the cool tones of the color wheel and create another wreath of sorts. Topped it off with a couple butterflies.

white embossing powder
distress inks
sequins

My teamies were also very butterfly inspired today. If you feel like making a project with wings, link up at the STAMPlorations Blog Hop Linky Party. CUTplorations may

Well hi, hello and welcome back to nearly-normal programming at STAMPlorations, friends! Hope you stuck with us during our little "Winter" break. We are back this month with all of the challenge teams. But we've got only one challenge graphic for you since we're celebrating Spring with another Things with Wings party. Ready?

Here's our inspiration photo for the May CUTplorations challenge over at STAMPlorations.

Well. I saw that graphic and couldn't get the Bloomtangled cover plate dies out of my head. So I ran with it. Swiped some Distress Inks in ROYGBIV across cardstock and this card was born.

Although the filigrane white butterfly is only partially adhered so she can still flutter around, that solid white butterfly is actually inlaid into the cover plate die cut... not necessary, but I wanted to try something... come back in two weeks for my reminder post to see what I did with the missing portion of the cover plate die cut ;)

Hope you'll find time to join us for some die cutting fun this month over at the CUTplorations challenge. Just make a project based on our inspiration using at least one die cut. Your project might be chosen as a winner of a $15 GC to the shop. Check out how the CUTplorations DT was inspired by this month's photo here.

hello baby tag

Like I mentioned yesterday, we've got new babes in the 'hood. To go with the card, I made this gift tag with more leftovers from my Easter egg dye dipping session and a touch of gold.

STAMPlorations Hello word die
gold foil cardstock
gold metallic thread

Perhaps you can see how I dip-dyed the tag. Dipped the 2/3 in pink (now the top). And then I rotated the tag and dipped 2/3 in yellow (now the right). The upper right section is a bit orange from the mix of pink and yellow. Fun, eh?

For the stork I dipped the whole thing once. Then only 3/4. Then 1/2. And finally just the legs one last time to create the ombre effect.

I'm hooking this up at:
