starry winter wonders

It's an oldie, but a goodie the Autumn Leaves Winter Wonders stamp set.

Took some watercolor paper, smooshed Distress Inks in Shaded Lilac and Evergreen Bough onto my craft sheet, spritzed with Perfect Pearls water and created my background piece.

Heat embossed the wonderful sentiment and hung a strip of sheer ribbon on the panel before adhering it to my cardbase.

I'm entering these challenges:

Stempelkueche #29

AAA Cards #49 - Word Play

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday - CAS Christmas (am I pushing it here?)

Not really ready for the holidays yet, but I guess they'll be here before I know it! Have a lovely day.

hatee-hatee-hatee-ho (CFC, Simply Create Too)

Forgive me in advance for giving you an earworm....  but c'mon, how genius was it of those guys to pick up on this idea and make a song out of it. In case you aren't familiar with THE fox (insert doubtful look), here ya go.

In case it's been too "lo-o-o-o-ong"... go have a watch.  And come back singing, OK? Cuz of course you want to know the answer to the question...

So...  THIS fox says "i'ma-i'ma-i'ma-re-ject". Made for a recent submission call honoring Mr. your-fur-is-red-so-beautiful.  Not having made the cut for the mag, it's purr-fect for the current Shades of Gray challenge over at CASual Fridays.  It's even donning three shades of gray with the CS, heat embossing and washi. Since they're now keeping their doors open for three weeks, I may manage to join the fun more often.  Yippie-yippie-yippie-oh.

With all the rage in hand lettering these days, I mimicked it by freehand-forming a piece of wired ribbon (like stiffening twine with glue - without the gl-ue-ue-ue-ue!) The ribbon was originally yellow, just painted it black when I was done.  TIP: Use temporary adhesive to help you while forming.  The wire tends to have a mind of its own.

So have I got you feeling frisky? The current challenge at Simply Create Too is "Animals".  How will you speak to that "cha-al-al-al-lenge"?

You will forgive me, won't you?

monogram for gertrud (PTI)

Knew this blog hop was approaching.  Totally forgot about it until an hour ago.  Was going to sit it out but then I was chatting with Kelly G. about having lots of ribbon and never using it and I need a card for Gertrud's 70th (this lady is in my workout class!) so I decided to go for it.

Was I thrilled to find that little branchy stamp in the Lovely Layers set?  Yep.  Did I iron my ribbon scraps?  Nope.  Should I have?  Yep.   Was I totally inspired by one of the the photos in the inspiration board over at Papertrey?  Yep.  Recognize it?  Magenta, gold, circle, stripes....

Happy hopping.

Gotta love Moxie Fab!

Still catching up on what's been happening in blogland.  And lo and behold, Cath has a trigger photo which I saw somewhere in my life, which totally inspired this card awhile ago.

Now I can finally give credit where credit is due.  Check out these amazing cakes - lots of inspiration there.  This card is actually leaving my house next weekend when the couple is having their civil ceremony before they marry in the church on New Year's Eve in New Zealand.  How romantic, eh?

edit:  When I saw the latest challenge at Casual Fridays, Banners and Flags, I had to hook this lovely up.

Stamps: Artemio

wedding wishes (pleated ribbon)

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger.  TRIGGER.  Means sparks an idea.  Here is the trigger photo:

This Week's Tuesday Trigger

OK, so the idea was cake. And Fancy Schmancy.  Adios pink and brown. But I love this card anyway.  I saw a photo (don't know where) of a cake with a "ruffled" tier and a banner.  Loved the idea and wanted to use it for this card for a local winemaker who's marrying a guy from New Zealand.

Used sketch #170 from CPS anniversary challenge:

Also have a card for CPS day 6 sketch #37:

Here is the sketch:

Used a fun technique on this one.  The bottom panel is watercolor paper, heat embossed and then  painted with color blocks of Distress Inks mixed with water.  This was a technique from Papertrey.
