Here's a simple sympathy card from a while back using two stamp sets I find perfect for the occasion.
The dark menacing sponged sky. A few watter splatters for interest. And a fussy cut cardinal. I used gray cardstock and Altenew Winter Cardinal with various red inks. The sentiment is Papertrey Botanical Silhouettes. Some perfect pearls mix gave a sparkle to the bird.
