Notice those colors on the leaves. How do you think I made them? Distress inks? Nope.
Tea bags. If you rip them open and spread them onto damp cardstock, let them dry naturally, and then scrape the clumps off you get this cool result. The purple-ish tones are from a fruit tea. Cool, eh? Even have a slight scent of fruit tea to your card when you're done. Here's a tute - in German but with photos.
Added some dry embossing (reminds me of a cable-knit sweater). And see the fiber? The egg noodles I buy have that as a closure ;)

This is absolutely gorgeous, Maria!!! I love everything, EVERYTHING about it, but the leaves are so special! And I do happen to have fruit teas on hand...hmmmmmm.....
No kidding?! Tea? I love it!! I'll have to try that one, I have loads of different tea around . . .
Excellent card!
Ooooooooooh!!! LURVE!!! :)
I liked the design overall and came over to tell you so, but now that I read the post, I am LOVING your creative mind :) tea bags, hu, who would have thought?
I need to say : WOW!
Hi Maria! WOW! What a wonderful idea! Who would have thought Tea Bags could be used this way - you've shown us yet another awesome tutorial - those leaves are amazing! Thanks for playing along with us at CAS-ual Fridays!
Now I regret that I didn't bring back the cheap fruit teabags from Germany! I have tried it with black tea which is cool too, but I like the colors in yours!
And btw, the Oktoberfest is not one of the things I miss! I was never a big fan of fairs...
Hi, Maria: What a great tutorial--even though I don't read Germany--the pictures tell the story--can't wait for you to join us!
Diane
OMG......tea?? Those leaves are incredible and I adore that everything is layered onto the embossed panel!!! Thanks for playing along with us at CAS-ual Fridays!
I would have never guessed tea bags for the color on your leaves! They take center stage, as they should. Love it, maria f.!! Thanks so much for joining the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!
Hey Maria! Thanks for linking this up to the Color Media Challenge in the Moxie Fab World! I'm so glad you joined in on all the fun! :)
Wow! This is beautiful! Congrats on your win at MBW :)
Congrats on the moxie win - love the cable knit and the autumn colours. Pity we don't have smells in bogland (would that be smogland?), cos I bet it has a lovely aroma.
Beautiful card, Maria, especially now that I have read the fine details! What a fantastic idea to tea-dye the leaves!! Congratulations!
Congratulations on the Colour Media Challenge at MFW, Maria, with this amazingly creative card! What a wonderful result ... soft, elegant and beautiful! Anita :)
Gasp! Those leaves are to die for! Must give tea dyeing a try! Congrats on the Color Media shout out! Such a deserving win!
Yay, I'm so happy this card got picked for the MFW challenge!! It's so deserving : )
What beautiful soft colors. I would have never imagined it was tea leaves stain. I have a ton of fruity tea leaves at home. You know, they look so good in the store, in their pretty little boxes, but brewing them up and drinking them is an entirely different story! LOL Congratulations, this is way Moxie Fab.
