mother - my #1 fan

Take a 12x12 Heidi Swapp sunshine stencil that's been sitting out on my workspace for weeks. Add a celebratory challenge over at Anni's blog where she wants us to use stencils. Throw in a drop-dead gorgeous card of Anni's that I ran across while perusing her blog and my desire to finally use one of my STAMPlorations MOM Subway Art stamps as it was originally intended... as subway art.

This is the wild and crazy-ness that results...

Stencilled the sun rays onto PP with acrylic paint. Heat embossed the subway art and some vines onto a die cut label. Added some die cut leaves and two roses too.

Ahhh, the roses. Made them awhile back but I stamped them with ink and white acrylic paint onto CS that I had distress inked.  And splattered. If I did anything else to them, I don't remember!

Should your eyes be having seizures, I apologize.

Whether you are a mother or daughter or both... have a beautiful Mother's Day.  I'd rather be there to give her a hug, but my Mom's getting a GC to Red Lobster this year and she's gonna love me for that!  Shrimp, run for your lives...

watercolor fun (SSS, CMCC, KIS, WW)

Had some fun with the use-your-embossing-folder-like-a-stencil-used-as-a-stamp technique. Confused? Check out this video from Splitcoast to see what I mean.

Are you back?  Well I did this technique with the Flower Corner folder from Hobby Solutions and Distress Paints in Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmelade, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves and Peeled Paint.

It's kinda like playing with gelli plates and monoprinting like I did here.  Except let's call it duo- and tres- printing, may we? You get a lot of bang for your buck if you keep spritzing the paint left on your folder and making more prints.  Print #1 was made into a card which was just accepted for publication in Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking November issue.  So please meet prints #2 and #3...

#2 has a bit of splotchiness going on on the left side.  I spritzed the folder with a water and bronze Perfect Pearls mixture and the splotches are from where there was a lot of water.  But in the spirit of the watercolor trend, that's what I was hoping for. I heat embossed this wonderful sentiment from Winnie and Walter onto colored CS and fussy cut it before adhering it with foam adhesive.

On #3 I incorporated tidbits of the third print I made from the folder (simply onto a piece of cheap white CS). I punched one inch circles from the print and stitched them onto a CS panel which I had stamped with some delicate blooms using Distress Inks.

TIP: I inked up the sentiment with pink and purple and stamped it onto my panel and then freaked cuz it was way too dark. I quickly spritzed the stamp and stamped over it... twice... and it got the nice glimmery and watercolory result I was hoping for.

The inside.  Love the versatility of the W&W Big and Bold sets - so many sentiment possibilities.

I'm playing all around the neighborhood with these cards:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
Keep it Simple #39 - Watercolor
Colour Me #18 - Anything Goes using 5 colors

Appreciate your visit.

STAMPlorations sketch #11

How do you like this sketch?  It's the new one over at STAMPlorations. Easy peasy, right?  Check out what our guest designer, Mynnette of On a Stampage did with it - a polka dot, kraft beauty. Here is what I did with it.

DD needed a birthday card for a girlfriend and had already purchased a gift card which had a pink on pink damask pattern.  With this in mind and the sketch in hand I cut apart my MOM Subway Art Builders #2 and #5 and made the little banners to hang off the focal point.  On the focal point I used an image from VIGNETTE: Art Deco Border Builders to achieve a damask-like subtle pattern. I chose a smooshed-together-in-order-to-fit-the-pink-panel Dymo sentiment.

Give this sketch a go and you could win some digi products from All About Scrapping.  Give our May challenge (Stamps and Flowers) a go and you could win some stamps. Give all three challenges a go this month and there's a grand prize to be won. Check out the deets on the STAMPlorations blog.

Appreciate your visit.

STAMPlorations may challenge "stamps and flowers"

It's time for the May challenge at STAMPlorations.  What do April showers bring?  Well May flowers of course.

Get out those stamps and make something with stamps and flowers.  Remember, you don't have to use STAMPlorations stamps to be a winner.  Here's what I did.

A bit of a stretch, but I went for a totally graphic flower, stamped with one of the MOM stamps from MOM Subway Builders #2 and nearly all the Distress Inks I own!  I love how upside down "MOM" reads "WOW".  Fun, eh?

I stamped a circle with an arrow stamp from VIGNETTE: Chevron and Arrows for the center of my bloom and the leaves with a sentiment from the same set.

This card won't fit in a normal envelope, but hey, Mom is worth the extra postage, right?

Head over to STAMPlorations and join us - check out what Sue our guest designer and my teamies have to share; you have until May 31.  The winner of the monthly challenge gets two stamp sets and a guest designer gig. And this is the prize up for grabs if you join our monthly and bi-weekly challenges...

Have a great day.

handwriting (CFC, Moxie Fab)

Quick but effective, agree? I used a Stampendous "congratulations" stamp and one of the MOM Subway Art stamps from STAMPlorations atop a hand-drawn belly bump silhouette for this card.

I'm hooking up to:
Moxie Fab World - Hip on Handwriting
CASual Fridays #131 - Three Thirds

Thanks for looking.

happy birthday, Cornelia!

It was my teamie's, Cornelia of Stempel Spass, birthday last week and a few of the STAMPlorations girls are wishing her all the best today!

Cornelia made some fabby cards lately using a stencil technique of inking and moving the stencil and inking again and I did the same but with Glimmer Mists in Lemongrass and Sea Glass.  The result is a watercolor effect which is super shimmery as you can see in the close up. And I used the current STAMPlorations sketch #10 but changed it up a little to incorporate a piece of German PP from Scrapbook Werkstatt. Thought Cornelia might appreciate that!  For those of you who don't know, she's German living in the USA and I'm American living in Germany :)   On the PP strip I repeat stamped a cut apart sentiment from VIGNETTE: Chevrons and Arrows.

Happy year, Cornelia and happy weekend everyone.

STAMPlorations sketch #10 (Time Out, DD)

It's time for a new sketch challenge at STAMPlorations. This is kind of a fun one.  Stumped me at first.

Used a stencil and acrylic paint to create a brick wall which I trimmed into two panels.

Before adhering the panels I stamped some splatters and splotches from Holiday Artsy and a sentiment from VIGNETTE: Chevron and Arrows, heat embossing the word "Great".  Something about the pink and gold with all that black makes me smile.

Will you join us for Sketch Challenge #10?  Hope to see you over at STAMPlorations.

I'm joining the fun at a new-to-me challenge, Time Out (what a great name for a cardmakers' playground), where the #3 theme is Birthday, although I have not made this with the masculine "twist".

And I'm going over to Dynamic Duos #99 where the colors are black, razzleberry and a touch of gold.  I think my pink is too pink, but oh well.

Hope your Easter was joyful.  Have a great week.
