eggstra for you

Here I go again nearly missing a challenge deadline, although I've been intending to play along.  Ugh.

Display our button

Maybe it's a good thing I was tardy, because just today it dawned on me that my girlfriend's bday is actually on Easter Sunday.  I pulled this card together quickly last night to join the Play Date Cafe challenge.  Same thing happened today.  But I'm happy with the result - although not my photography.  The card is really white ;)

The inspiration photo was all about green and white to me. Not my normal colors. But it's so cute because of the pops of colors in the bunnies' ears.

I needed a bigger element for my image than the PS stamps I own.  Checked out the free digi stamps here and chose the feather figuring it would be good in white.  Was going to go with eggs along the bottom and the "eggstra" sentiment (love Kim H's humor) for the Easter bday idea to bring in the color from the bunnies' ears...

Enter my buttons.  I remembered that I now own a button die which I had never used.  Shame on me.  I think the buttons pop better than stamped eggs would.  Not sure what the feather has to do with buttons, but oh well.

Dry embossed the feather.  Layered it on some corrugated cardboard and added a strip of chartreuse too.  Opted for a white heat embossed sentiment rather than black.  Rounded a corner and voila.

Oh, notice how I fuzzed up the ends of my twine.  Like the bunnies' tails ;)

Am also hooking this up to Coredinations color challenge although it was March.  Gorgeous photo.

Happy day.

sending some sunshine (DIY embellies)

What do you get when you mix TP and a rubber stamp?  A DIY embellie, of course.

I'm still playing in the challenges over at Moxie Fab - they are so darn practical.  I'm lovin it.
I made a gob of these TP embellies a couple months ago following this tutorial.  Made this card.  Decided to make another one into a card for the DIY Embellishment Challenge

I think this is a great technique for artistic cards.  The subtle coloring was achieved adding a bit of watercolor as I was layering the wet TP while making it.  I  handstitched around the edge after poking holes and did all distressing and stamping with Tea Dye Distress Ink.

Stamped some wildflowers along the bottom of the kraft CS.  Added ink to the edges and stamped and clear embossed the sentiment which I found appropriate for the embellie.  Added a couple strips of scrap PP before adhering the embellie with score tape, but my CAS soul thinks it might have been even better without the PP.  Oh well.  This is a get well card so maybe brighter is better.

Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies sending warm wishes:
Paper: CS ?, PP K& Co and October Afternoon
Stamps: sum Plaid?, flowers PTI, sentiments Hero Arts

no time to say hello, goodbye (single-layer card)

Saw this guy over at The Play Date Cafe and loved his vintage-ness.  Immediately knew which rabbit I wanted to use.  Then time got away from me.

Something made me go check out PDCC125 again and heavens, I'm nearly late, late, for a very important date!  Earlier today I had been checking out the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge and unusual for the ladies over there (but right up my alley) they are looking for one-layer cards.

So I pulled out the rabbit and my new WMS stamps.  Had a rough idea for a design but needed to choose a pattern.  Went with herringbone cuz it reminds me a bit of the fencing in the PDC image.

As for the sentiment, I wanted to use WMS too.  Nothing like time pressure (it is 11 p.m. here) to make me work a bit faster.  I pulled out the Say It Loud sentiments and when I saw the "bonny new" I decided it was to become a baby card.  "Bonny" ... like "bunny"... like it's time for me to go to bed!

TIP:  When you generation stamp, if you've inked up the whole stamp but not stamped the entire stamp, line up the stamp properly when doing the second generation stamping or you'll get some first and second generation mix.  See that last little herringbone on the right... oopsy.

Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it's getting...

Supplies a bonny new baby:
Paper: CS Neenah
Stamps: BG and sentiment WMS, rabbit Crafty Secrets
Ink: black Versafine, Versamagic

don't throw anything away (DIY embellies)

Once again, inspired by the Moxie Fab challenge "DIY Embellishments" as well as "Don't Throw it Away"... again...  this time getting rid of those CS strip scraps from my RIC#7 card here.

My embellies are die cut stars.  Cut from clean-up baby wipes, leftover from here.  And cut from the red plastic netting that covers a crate of mandarines.  Cuz I don't throw anything away!

Dressed up card #1 with a couple strips of my new washi tape.  Such a fun product.  Added a couple pearl blue stars and some stitching to card #2.  Keep your eyes open - embellies are all around you!

Sentiment inside from WMS - fitting don't ya think?

These guys are also headed over to Simon Says Stamp where Anything  Goes this week.

name that tune (CFC#46)

"I can name that tune in four notes."  If you're as old as me you might remember that TV show.  I was pretty good at it.  I'm likin' Adele these days and her latest number is pretty easy to identify after a couple beats.  Was my inspiration for my CASual Fridays card.

"Rumor has it" -  thought the pointing finger was a good motif for this so I then went with all the arrows from the Sassafras set.  Created the computer generated sentiment and ran it across the bottom.  The inside reads "you're havin a birthday" in the same font (Bodo black square).
CAS one layer card.

Going over to Simon Says Stamp with this one too for the Anything Goes challenge.

Rumor has it I'm done for the day.  Thanks for your visit.

enough is enough (use up scraps)

May have mentioned that my ironing board doubles as my creation station.  May also have mentioned that I don't like doing housework.  Well, there was enough ironing calling my name that I had to up and do it.  I'd already moved these scraps from left to right and back again multiple times, thinking "I can do something with these".  So enough is enough.  I did something.

Inspiration came in the form of this birdhouse and the fact that my snowbird parents are on their way back home so I wanted to make them a welcome home card.  I just forced myself to use as many scraps as possible.  Kind of a crazy result, but I likey.

You may recognize some of the scraps from here (birdhouse), here (bird), here (butterfly), here (flowers) or here (branch).  Put all the scraps onto a piece of blue cardstock which I stamped haphazardly with the hexagon BG from my new Clear and Simple stamps I won at Moxie Fab.  Just picked them up (had to go to the customs office) and wanted to try them out.  The CS and stamp were the only non-scrap things I used.  Even the card base is a cheapo card covered with packing paper.  It was a part of a complete set that I picked up super cheap just for the cool woodgrain paper that was also in it.  Gotta love Aldi.

Entering the Flowers challenge at Lily Pad Cards cuz my card "sports a couple flowers".

Ant thanks to Cath at Moxie Fab for the Paper Scraps Challenge.  Cuz enough is enough.

technology timeout

Would love to share my latest with you but techy unsavvy me is having problems with blogger.  Can't upload my photos ("Upload failed.  Lost connection to server").  And what's a post without photos....
