nbus goes us - take 4

More fun with PTI Phrase Play #11 die. Hope you've enjoyed my series. Meet the card that started it.

For a homeschooled grad. Now I don't know how homeshooling works with "graduation", but I saw some photos of her friends with red gowns and I wanted to work rainbow colors into the design. So where are they, you ask?

ROYGB with a layer of white on top. I actually made the stacked die cut first then chose to adhere it to a black cardbase. Maybe not girly (she's not), but definitely striking.

So then, for the boy wearing the blue gown in his family's photos (TG for FB!)...

For Papertrey Make it Monday Neutrals. Did some stamping. And used neutrals including Soft Stone PP to let the die cut pop. Hope that counts.

And finally, waiting in the wings...The "series" started when I started playing with all the fun remnants from the die cuts for the first card above.

Gave it a tilt when adhering and added a few stars for fun. Kinda funny that this card of Ardyth P.'s pushed me over the edge to purchase this die. And I haven't even tried cutting it apart yet!!!

Going to CASology #115 with these

Thanks for looking! Happy weekend.

nbus goes us - take 3

Hooray! Another reason this NBUS die is now categorized USed. More fun with PTI Phrase Play #11 die. Hope you're enjoying my series. Today it's about masculine.

Tomorrow you will actually see why I had all these pieces to play with... Well the green remnants spoke to me so I cut a black frame and plunked them in. Grabbed a kraft base and when I saw the color combo I decided I liked it a lot so I did not "fill the holes". Except for that precious little pop of red star in the banner!

Going to Simply Create Too #87 where it's Masculine and you can hook up until the 19th

The Kraft Journal #227 where I've used black, masculine, and a tiny dot of red.

And Paper Players #248 Masculine challenge.

Tomorrow I'm sharing the graduation card(s) which started this whole shebang!

full and great

So one file on my computer is full to overflowing with cards which were made for submission calls, not accepted but waiting for a second chance. Guess it's time to relieve them of their misery.

I'm starting with this one. Modern art meets Distress Inks.

Did it take you a minute to figure it out? Yeah, probably one of the reasons it didn't get picked up.

Did you catch my "brain dump" in yesterday's post?

Well, one additional thing became "abundantly clear" (to quote Mr. Dyerhurden, my fourth grade teacher) when my brain fog cleared. The cardmaking world is a wonderful world. And I'm so grateful to be a part of it. (Even if people's eyes tend to glaze over when I try to explain it to them.)

How do you explain a world where everyone knows what Neenah solar white means? Where competitors cheer for each other at a Friday afternoon FB party and welcome newcomers with arms wide open? Where people in opposite hemispheres work together in a team? Where thousands of cards are born in the internet and end up in sick people's hands? Where strangers travel around the globe to spend time with "friends" they've never met before? To craft together in one's last days? I mean, really, how?

All I know is it's pretty great. And I'm pretty grateful. Just sayin' :)

hey there birdie (Paper Players, SSS)

Oopsy daisy.  (On a tangent... I actually say that.  As does Hugh Grant in Notting Hill (LOVE THAT MOVIE). And I think Nichole H. must follow my blog (HA!) and liked this card way back when enough to create a new stamp set based on it. Of course, right? (HA HA HA HA HA HA))

Anyhoo, I guess in the excitement of the blog hop for it I forgot to post a card from the Card Creations Volume 12 that came out back in March.  It truly is a great (and still paper, folks) issue. Martha will second me on that - she was lucky to win a copy on my blog back in the hop.

Well I want to share this card with you cuz of how I was inspired.  Got a circular in the mailbox and there was a set of sheets with lotsa white and a branch and leaves in citrusy colors.  So I pulled out a NBUS, Bird die from Lifestyle Crafts and set about to create this card.

Moral of the story... inspiration abounds.  Just gotta keep your eyes open, like this birdie here. Thanks for looking.

I'm joining the fun over at Paper Players where the colors are Coral, Saffron and Pear.  Close enough, I hope. And this week at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge it's all about Die Cuts.  Can do.

Supplies hey there:

parade of rejects: winter wishes (CASOS, The Paper Players)

OK.  So then there was a call for submissions for Christmas cards.  Sticking with my "I have to have a theme" line of thinking, I went with stars.

You may remember I was on a bokeh kick awhile back.  Well bokeh met stars for this card.

starry bokeh

I stamped the bokeh dots on the cardbase and then adhered vellum between the base and the textured and die cut CS.  Added sequins like the night stars and one star "falling" with the sentiment.  "Wishes", as in "wish on a falling star."  I kinda liked the idea.  But the mag didn't.

I was happy to get some constructive criticism on this one and was told that the sentiment didn't really fit the theme and it was hard to read.  OK.  Back to the drawing board.

I tweaked this guy and tried again.  Just keep watching.

I'm joining the Christmas in July fun over at CAS on Sunday as well as at The Paper Players #153..  Join in.

Supplies warm wishes:
Paper: CS Bringmann, American Crafts, vellum
Stamps: sentiment Penny Black
Ink: Hero Arts, Adirondack, Versamark
Tools: die Sizzix
Other: crochet thread, sequins
