day 4 STAMPlorations spotlight - Heaven Sent

It's day 4 of Spotlight Week - five new sets, one to be spotlighted each day this week. Ready?

Today's spotlighted set is - Heaven Sent - a baby set with unique illustrated images and sweet handwritten sentiments. I think it's so touching that Shery designed this set as a Mom-to-be.

Here is what I did with it.

My fave design of late, randomly stamped images all over the BG and a sentiment as the focal point. This time I stamped the bear in Willow, Pool and Aqua Adirondack dye inks then went over them lightly with a water brush to soften 'em up.

A heat embossed sentiment, and a bear heat embossed blue on blue and fussy cut, finished it off.

BTW, as I was trimming the zig zag edges of the sentiment banner with my scissors, I trimmed off a tiny strip. See where it went instead of into the bin? Yep, frugal is my middle name.

Check out what the other gals created, including our guest designer Darnell 's classic beauty. Hop around and leave comments, there will be prizes!

I'm playing at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge where the theme is Due Date. This card can go out when that day has arrived. (I was lucky.  No waiting til the due date for me. My kids both arrived two weeks early.)

I'm also joining the Watercolor challenge at Challenge Up Your Life.

See ya tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by.

STAMPlorations sketch #26

There's a new neighbor in my parents' hood. Actually the daughter of the original builder/owner has decided to make it her retirement home. So happy for her and her hubby. And for my folks. Now there is someone else living along the beach year round.

And there's a new sketch up at STAMPlorations.

So I grabbed my cute little houses from Shirley's The Bees Knees: Houses and created a hood.

Know how I made the grass? With the roof of one of the house stamps (one I didn't stamp on the card)! Got some new Memento Luxe and Radiant Neon inks to play with (on sale for around €3 at Scrapmalin for any of you on this side of the pond) and voila!

For my sentiment I hung a vellum banner with alpha stickers and a PC-generated secondary sentiment with some stitching. Put a strip of cheery washi along the bottom of the inside of the card (a la Kate). Easy peasy, as they say! And a great idea for using up some of your washi stash. I'm hooking up at Challenge up your Life #6.

And since my world consists of life here in Germany and life back in Michigan, I'm hooking up to Addicted to CAS #50.

This is a great sketch, even rotated :) Won't you join us for the challenge? Check out the cards from the DT and our guest designer, Maria, at the STAMPlorations blog.

tag a la Jennifer M. (Ellen Hutson, CUYL, SSS, SS)

Give me Peacock Feathers and Broken China Distress Ink and an ink applicator and I'm a happy camper. That's what first came to mind when I saw Simon Says Stamp's challenge to use one of your Favorite Things (tool, product, stamp).  Add a couple of challenges to the mix and I'm a really happy camper.

On Day 4 Jennifer M. created a work of art over at Ellen Hutson's Classroom for the Feminine Twist on 12 Tags.  You should check out those mirrored pieces she used - now there's one thing I don't have in my stash.  I had to go with what I have.

So I took inspiration from Challenge Up Your Life's #84 colors

and Stamping Sensations "Treemendous" challenge and this is what I came up with.

You'll probably never see a reed bird perched on an evergreen bough anywhere but here!  Or lilac snowflakes!  But I've got the distress inked BG under a StazOn stamped piece of acetate (cool effect BTW, Jennifer), a bird, a branch and snowflakes.  Even used a "Joy" sentiment.  And if you look closely you might catch the Stickles on the flakes and birdie's head and the glitter CS for the bough.

And purple, lilac, teal and light blue?  Check.

And a tree?  How 'bout a branch - will that do?

Happy Friday, friends.

Supplies for JOY:
Paper: CS Neenah, glitter CS DCWV, recycled acetate, purple CS Papermania
Stamps: dots BG CHF, text (on bird and fllakes) 7 Gypsies, sentiment Hero Arts
Ink : Distress Inks, Versacolor, StazOn
Tools: dies - bough Marianne Creatables, bird Memory Box, snowflakes Sizzix
Other: pearls, ribbon

sympathy (CUYL, ABNH)

Had to replenish my stash of sympathy cards.  Motivated by A Blog Named Hero's challenge to redo an old card of yours, I went to a design that I actually like a lot and just gave it a new color combo.

Viva's 3D rose stamp meets Shaded Lilac and Broken China Distress Inks.  And a fabulous Technique Tuesday sentiment.

Also joining in at Challenge up your Life - Condolence.
