somber ombre watercolor (Moxie Fab, Passion for Papertrey, SSS)

Unfortunately, it's one of those times when I need a sympathy card.  Second one recently.  Ever heard deaths come in threes?  I think there might be something to that.  Shudder.

Well, I'd seen this photo from design seeds.  Minimalistic and very positive actually.  So I went with it for sympathy cards.

Noticing the blurry background and the grays in the color palette, I decided to try ombre watercoloring.

Because I haven't played at Passion for Papertrey for awhile, I decided to give their current "50 Shades of Gray" challenge a go.  Used a PTI die for the leaves (Lovely Layers and Tweet Talk!) which I cut from paper I'd also watercolored with various shades of green.  The second card has a PTI sentiment too.

And Simon Says "A Bit o' Green".  OK.

Also linking up to the Moxie Fab Card Creations Week Ombre Challenge.

Have a good one.

color-blocked sympathy (PDCC, CFC, SSS)

I can't believe it but I need another sympathy card.  A friend's father died.  He was only 71.  Geez.  Enough already.

This was kinda a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants attempt to squeak in under the Play Date Cafe's challenge deadline.  Haven't played there for a long time.

Luckily one of my DCWV pads had the three colors I needed.  Attached the blocks of color to the base and heat embossed with my delivered-in-today's-blizzard-by-the-dear-mailman Clearly Besotted stamps.  A button and twine and that's it.

Also hooking up to:

Thanks for looking.

cloud9 lure the best watercolor (Cloud9, SSS)

Take a gander at the inspiration photo over at Cloud9 (yep, I finally own some WPlus9 stamps so I can play) and what do ya see?

Besides the protea in the bouquet (my bridesmaids carried them anno damals) my eye went immediately to the watercolor BG.  Love.

So off I went.  Inked a Hero Arts Class Fabric Design BG stamp with Antique Linen , spritzed with water and stamped onto panel.  Inked the edges. Put some Distress Inks spritzed with water on my craft sheet and  created my watercolored fish.  What to do with the leftover mess on the craft sheet.  Smear some of the color onto my stamped BG!

Although I own Folk Art Florals and this was clearly a bouquet photo, I couldn't go there.  Had to give it an edge.  And the fish are the only other WPlus9 I currently possess.  So, a "bouquet" of fish.  In a mason jar vase stamped onto alcohol inked acetate.  Hanging on a fishing rod represented by a repeatedly-stamped sentiment.  The leaves - they're pretty true to the inspiration photo.  Edge?  Yes.  WhomIgonnasenditto?  Clueless.

Also playing at Simon Says Stamp - A Bit o' Green.

Thanks for looking.

and i think to myself, what a moxie fab world (Moxie Fab)

First things first - ya had to peel me off the ceiling when I received an email from Cath, Ms. Moxie Fab herself, inviting me to be a Moxie Fabber of the Week.  Me?  No way.  Seriously?  Permagrin.

Big HUGE hug going out to Ms. Moxie Fab and all of you who stop by here and make my day with your lovely comments.  Seriously.  I love being able to play with paper and ink, but truthfully, it's even more fun when people like what you do ;)

So, back to our regularly scheduled programming... Where do you get your inspiration?  Ever find it at Amazon?  I did.  A set of bowls.  See, folks, it's all around you.  And turns out these puppies are even in the MoMA store so they must be cool, eh?

So my brain went from bowls to negative die cuts.  Yep.

Thought it was interesting that the designer for this set from Joseph Joseph decided to go with a GBIVROY rainbow, so I picked up my oval dies and hit my scrap paper stash.  GBIVROY it was.

Had a couple leftover sentiments printed on vellum from this card and went with the one in the flowing CK Cursive font cuz it contrasts nicely with the bold graphic shapes.  And cuz I was too lazy to go upstairs to the PC and print out my original idea "you fill me... " to follow on the inside with "with pride".  Yep.

So I'm going full circle on this one.  Playing in the Emphasize the Negative challenge over at Moxie Fab! Love this "technique".  And this moxie fab world we find ourselves in.

So nice of you to stop by.

Supplies for love your guts:
Paper: cardbase Craft UK, black CS American Crafts, scrap, vellum The Paper Company

kate spade (RIC, CFC, Moxie Fab)

Kate Spade - now this is a designer I could love.  Tailored fun.  How's that for a description?  You should check out her other outfits at style.com.

My initial take was "stripes, see-through panel in the middle with a funky stamped image on it, strip of yellow."  Yeah, the DT had the same idea...  Off to the mental drawing board.  I zoomed on Barbie's t-shirt and LOL - a polka dot handbag, a pink sprinkle donut a hot dog and a gray poodle.  (I seriously WOULD LOVE to own this t-shirt.  If I see the price I'll probably choke...)  This is what evolved.

Used an older sketch from CASE This Sketch.  The B/W stripes had to stay.  The yellow became more than a mini skirt.  Red and white polka dots?  I can't refuse.  And the fun and funky came to play in the form of speech bubbles and the pink sequins.

Also playing at:
CASual Fridays - #92 Color Blocking (though I'm not sure this really qualifies...)
Moxie Fab - The Speech Bubble Challenge

Have a great weekend, friends.

Supplies thank you:
Paper: CS American Crafts, PP echo park

masculine tag (Moxie Fab, Hero Arts, CFC)

Don't have to ask me twice to use letter tiles.  I love using them.  Same goes for die cut negatives.  So with these challenges happening:

Moxie Fab - Emphasize the Negative

Casual Fridays -

Hero Arts -

I made this tag .  It's actually already left the house hanging on a wine bottle.  Masculine enough I hope...

Some background stamping, heat embossing, die cutting, edge distressing, eyelet setting and ribbon recycling and voila.

Thanks for your visit.

Supplies tag :
Paper: tag, PP Fancy Pants
Stamps: Hero Arts
Ink : Versafine, Versamark, Distress Ink

farmhouse appeal (WPlus9, PC)

Yippie for me.  I'm now the proud owner of Folk Art Florals from WPlus9.  And it's every bit as great as I dreamed it would be.

Had to go play.  Checked out the mood board at the website and with green, red and yellow on the brain I was off.  Grabbed the first scrap of PP I saw and die cut all the pieces.  And then an idea popped into my head.  So I went with it.

Brought it some brown with the repeatedly-stamped "Friend" and natural twine and even inked the edges of the birdies to mimic the edge inking on the mood board.  A cute little sentiment on the inside and I'm a happy camper.

Thanks to Jenny M. for the heads-up about a UK source for WPlus9 and other US stamps - Make The Day Special.

Appreciate your visit.
