this week at CASology

I am incredibly honored to be guest designing with the ladies over at CASology this week. They do CAS like no other. This week's cue card sounds simple, but paired with CAS my mind drew a blank.

My mind first went here - "mama, don't take my Kodachrome away." Thanks, Paul Simon. But what could some options be? A great big image inked in blue with a blue sentiment. A yellow watercolor splash with a black image on it. Some orange watercolored stripes and a sentiment white embossed onto a snippet of orange CS. Three little scraps of pink CS with the top layer being a negative of a die cut. Geesh.

I came full circle to the opposite of Kodachrome. Thanks, Google.
monochrome
ˈmɒnəkrəʊm,mɒnə(ʊ)ˈkrəʊm/
noun
  1. 1.
a photograph or picture developed or executed in black and white or in varying tones of only one colour.

Used my MFT By the Letters alpha die to die cut a strip of black CS. I then adhered the strip of black CS (minus the letters) to white scrap paper (putting adhesive on the black). Then I laid the letters back into the strip and sliced the black strip (including letters). Adhered the sliced strip of black CS and then the bottom halves of the sliced letters below the strip. Clear as mud?

"Danke" to Melissa and the others for having me at CASology.

MARIA! *waving wildly* My sweet friend, mega apologies for having fallen 17 (yes, seventeen) posts behind in commenting *hanging head in shame*! I have, however, gazed at, admired and oohed and ahhed over each and every one of your fabulous creations as they appear in my Feedly! Always, your innovative, thinking-out-side-the-box cards and fun posts (I'll be humming the Kodachrome song all day) dazzle and delight! So much to marvel at! I'm going to stand myself in the corner for a bit, then hopefully, get my act together to stay on top of your creations (blaming my tardiness on new work duties, travel, more travel, more work and overall scatteredness, as I try to adjust to life with a piece missing...). Thank you for understanding and for being such an AMAZING friend! Your card here: CAS-ilicious monochrome! Congrats on being the GD!
Hugs galore~c

Wowee, this is CAS perfection!!!! You rocked this GD post. I had to Google Monochrome myself and I'm playing around with an idea (but you know me, I'm a last minute crafter......). Very exciting to see you on the CASology blog!!

Wow--this is striking and stunning. Love how it looks almost like one of those optical illusions you see in the museum. Thanks so much for being our Guest Designer this week at CASology.

I cased this card and changed it up a bit. I didn't think of cutting strips of paper with the dies as you did, but began with gluing down the black letters first, then putting the black strip over that and then die cutting the white letters. After that, I matched them up with the bottom letters, and cut them off just below the black strip and glued them onto the black strip. I think your card process would have been a lot simpler. Oh well, live and learn. By the way, I doodled zentangle type of lines to my card to change it up. Thanks for the idea! http://mythankfuljournal.blogspot.com/2015/11/danke.html
