much appreciated (dry embossing)

Want monochromatic, but still lots of interest?  Get out those embossing folders.

I was inspired by the inspiration photo at Lawnscaping Challenge #27, that cake with the heart in the middle of it caught my eye.

And then there was Shari's die cutting technique at Hero Arts.  Determined to use a heart, my problem was that I only have a Sizzix BigZ heart die which cuts three hearts of different sizes at one time.  Which doesn't allow you to position the die wherever you want on your CS.  Hmm, what to do?

Well, if you carefully position a strip of CS on the die, you can cut the bottom of the strip into a point.  And then use that on your card.  So, I scanned the CPS sketches for their anniversary challenge and - problem solved.  I picked sketch #38 from Day 5 of the anniversary challenge:

You can see the detail of the die cut heart negative, backed with acetate stamped with the Hero Arts Flourish BG (my first stamp purchase!) and then backed with a scrap of wrapping paper.  I contemplated stitching around the edge of this piece (reminded me of a jeans pocket) but decided that might be too much stitching on the card.  Just added the red twine to hold my PTI sentiment.

Tip:  Lightly attach strips of embossed CS to a piece of scrap paper before stitching.  It's also easier to attach this piece to the card base then.

And although it'd be like winning the lottery, I'm hookin' up to Papertrey's day 7 of the anniversary challenge.

Thanks for your visit.
