jennifer m. technique (Hero Arts, Caring Hearts)

My last two cards for the Caring Hearts card drive.  I had bought some wooden ornaments and knew I wanted to incorporate them on a card for the nursing home.  But how?  Along comes Miss Card Technique herself, Jennifer McGuire posting an oh-so-cool technique over at Paper Crafts Connection.

Here are my takes:

Brief recap of the technique:  heat emboss panel, die cut panel, ink the positive (Festive Berries DI) and negative (Pumice Stone DI) and adhere, adhere two green CS strips, stamp sentiment (Iced Spruce DI), attach ornament after adding ribbon/twine.

Hope you're still reading cuz this is where I give a big virtual hug to my followers.  I missed out on the chance to greet you all by name (like Darnell does, have you seen that?)  Let me just say I am 1) amazed that you are here and 2) so appreciative of your lovely comments.  I have a few of the wooden ornaments left over and would like to share them with you, my followers.

If you'd like these, please leave me a comment.  I would love to know from you  if you've sold your handmade cards, where? (shop, fair, etsy) and  which type of card (CAS, fancy, mailable) sells best.  I've only sold a few to friends but my stash is growing.  Of cards and supplies that is.  Thus the idea to perhaps sell more...

Please comment before Dec 1.  DD will pick a number and I'll send these ornaments off to the winner!

As always, thanks for stopping by.  And hugs to ya.

This has such an awesome look, Maria! I take my cards in a pretty little basket to my dentist's office. I have a connection there since the whole family goes and I take them in a pretty little basket every so often. There are probably around 10 employees there. I usually go pick it up a day or two later. They really look forward to it. Find yourself an office, where people are thrilled to NOT have to go out and buy a card on their lunch break!;) And price them reasonable...even a lower amount is better than a bunch of cards sitting around being wasted. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Maria! So glad I popped over here because I was so taken with the ornament on your flickr post, I did not notice the super cool technique. I've been meaning to give it a go myself - even more so now that I've seen your beautiful take on it.

The only person I've "sold" my cards to is my mom... She prefers the CAS. A friend of mine has offered to keep some in her store and indicates that the cleaner cards are more likely to sell. Geography might matter. Maybe you can take a look at which types of cards are selling in stores you like and go for a similar look. Good luck!

Great idea, Maria, to use an ornament on a card! I have been enjoying your blog for a while now. Can't give you any advice on selling, though. Like the other Maria said, it probably depends on the region. Just try it out and you'll see. I also have been thinking of selling my cards.
By the way, I am German living in the States. How about that...

I think your ornament cards are beautiful! I just found you through ColourQ although I do believe I have visited before! I have sold my cards through my local Curves and to people at my church....it takes a while to get noticed, but I am beginning to even get orders now! Keep trying different things..you might have to give some away at the beginning just to get your name out there! Good luck!
