a rainbow and shoes

"Rainbowed" a shoe recently (you'll understand during next week's STAMPlorations blog hop ;) and couldn't resist pulling out the shoes again when I saw the current Fusion challenge. Cuz I saw a rainbow and boots. Those are shoes, right???

The inspiration photo from The Challenge influenced the style of my rainbow.
Meet my rainbow and shoes.

A healthy dose of masking and stamping and masking and stamping again gave me my heap of shoes. I stamped my sentiment (used Adirondack ink and Groovy Shoes for all stamping) and then taped my panel down and applied Gansai Tambi watercolors. I adhered the panel to a pink cardbase.

For those of you, like me, who don't own a Misti but stamp on bumpy watercolor paper anyway ... I went over the rough spots of the sentiment with a black Sharpie. You can only tell if you look real close!

I'm sharing this card at Penny Black and More - Birthdays too!

STAMPlorations inspiration #71

We've more inspiration for you today over at STAMplorations, and there are some new stamps making appearances. You might want to check it out. (And watch for the new release week coming up end of April!)

I worked with one of the new sets, Trendy Feathers 2.

Combined some favorite techniques, heat embossing and watercoloring and this is what I came up with for you.

I'm on a watercolor-the-background kick at the moment. Decided to use a masculine color palette after seeing the inspiration photo at Time Out #54.

Hope I've inspired you. Please be sure to check out the rest of the DT's creations. And don't forget to leave a comment here for a chance at a STAMPlorations GC.

I'm playing at Paru's Card Making Challenge.

Happy Little Stamper Mixed Media with my parts of wings ;)

MMCC #22 second reminder

Just a reminder that you still have ten days to join in with a SUNSHINE card over at The Mixed Media Card Challenge. Today I've got not only a sunshine of sorts, but also some bricks!

For this card, I let some textured PP do the work for me. Onto it I stamped a Belarto Nova large bloom using a foam stamp and acrylic paint. Mimics the sun, right?

I stencilled some colored-with-acrylic-paint embossing paste through Dutch Doobadoo Bricks stencil at the bottom edge and perched a felt birdie on it.

Some messy stitching around the edges and a few stamped "happy" sentiments from STAMPlorations Vignette: Chevron and Arrows finished off my card.

See all that texture thanks to the embossed PP (it even has sparkles in the letters!), the matt paint, the paste and the birdie? Yet easy peasy.

Hope you'll join us this month over at the MMCC!

I'm playing at:
Pinkfresh Studio's April Challenge where they want to see stitching or thread. Yep.
Seize the Birthday - the topping this time is Floral and since my sun is actually a bloom...

ARTplorations stencil blog hop - day 3

There's a little blog hop happening over at STAMPlorations for your viewing pleasure. There are a bunch of new stencils in the shop and boy are they cool!

I've chosen Bubble Dance to work with. I hope you saw yesterday's card. Today I'm taking yesterday's design up a notch.

After sponging rainbow colors of Distress Inks through the stencil, I moved it slightly to the right and applied pearlescent embossing paste over the stencil. Don't you love the extra interest, depth and movement it adds to the design?

I finished today's card off with a sentiment from Born to Roam, heat embossed onto a strip of black CS and stapled to the card.

Hope you've enjoyed what the DT has created for your viewing pleasure! You''ll find links to all the projects here. As always, there are prizes - for comments you leave AND stencil projects you link up to the Flash Linky Party. Have a great (and productive) weekend!

I'm hooking up at:
Snippets Playground #224
Paru's Card Making Challenge - Anything Goes
and since the stencil is called Bubble DANCE, I'm waltzing over to the POLKA challenge at SSS.

ARTplorations stencil blog hop - day 2

There's a little blog hop happening over at STAMPlorations for your viewing pleasure. There are a bunch of new stencils in the shop and boy are they cool!

I've chosen Bubble Dance to work with. Hope you saw yesterday's card. Today I'm using the stencil traditionally, sponging various colors of Distress Inks through it.

I first stamped a sentiment from Born to Roam. I taped the stencil down over my cardbase and put a piece of masking tape over the area where the sentiment was so I wouldn't inadvertently ink over it. I incorporated a tiny bit of color mixing of dots that were close to each other. On purpose! Like the green mixing into the big blue dots...

Please stop by here tomorrow for yet more fun with this stencil. Check out what the rest of the team made! You'll find links to all the projects here. As always, there are prizes - for comments you leave AND stencil projects you link up to the Flash Linky Party.

ARTplorations stencil blog hop - day 1

There's a little blog hop happening over at STAMPlorations for your viewing pleasure. There are a bunch of new stencils in the shop and boy are they cool!

I've chosen Bubble Dance to work with. Today I'm sharing the first idea that came to my mind when I saw the stencil.

Stencil, Distress Inks (Squeezed Lemonade, Worn Lipstick, Tumbled Glass) and sponge daubers. Sponge. Rotate. Repeat. Pure fun!

I added a stem to my bloom using a sentiment from Bloom Sketches.

Please stop by here tomorrow for more fun with this stencil. Check out what the rest of the team made! You'll find links to all the projects here. As always, there are prizes - for comments you leave AND stencil projects you link up to the Flash Linky Party.

spotlight on Easter egg dye (say what?)

Yep. You read it right. I used these

leftover Easter egg dyes, to create these panels...
