MMCC #27

Time for a new challenge at the Mixed Media Card Challenge blog. Remember, our definition of mixed media is stamps and ink plus something from the TEXTURE, DIMENSION and TECHNIQUE departments. And this month the theme is Harvest Basket with the optional element of Fruit.

My brain is still a bit in vacation mode and I couldn't really remember if I have any basket stamps. I know I've gone wild and used other things as baskets, like on this card, but this time I went pretty traditional. Well, sorta.

Ten points for you if you can identify what I used to make my bushel basket (Anita in France - no fair spilling the beans - or should I say gourds?!?) And while we're talking gourds, are they fruits or vegetables?!?

Anyhoo, I made my basket, even molding it a bit to give it the rounded look before I adhered it with different thicknesses of adhesive - DIMENSION. Before that I watercolored an area of my cardfront and gave it some Heidi Swapp gold splatters - TEXTURE.

The sentiment and berry twig from #essentials by Ellen Thankful were stamped with Archival. You can bet I let out a sigh of relief when they stamped perfectly first time around ;) And no, I didn't bring a MISTI back in my suitcase. Still not sure about whether I need to get one.

Last step was to tuck those gourdjus gourds (#essentials by ellen Gourd-jus) into my basket. They were die cut from watercolored and distress-inked scraps - TECHNIQUES.

Sure hope you're starting to feel excited about autumn (if you're in the northern hemisphere) and you'll create a Harvest Basket mixed media card of your own to hook up to the MMCC gallery this month. I look forward to seeing your creations!

This is actually new NBUS (Thankful stamp set) and not some of that old schtuff that's been hiding in drawers forever, but I'm taking this card over to Darnell's NBUS #7. See you there ;)
And I'm playing at Bastel Traum #44 where it's about Masking, Stenciling or Die Cutting. Yep! And at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge where this week it's Anything Goes!

  2. Excellent card, Maria! I love the basket! No, I can't tell what you used to make it - and I'm hoping you aren't going to tell me it was just pieced together with small strips of paper. Then I'll have to enroll in that underwater basketweaving course. (JK)

  3. New or old NBUS, I take them all in over here, Maria! I'm not gonna spill the beans either on what you used, but I think I've seen it often as a heart? At any rate, you know I love how your mind works and the creativity shown here is a perfect example of your genius as you laid down all aspects of this beautiful autumnal card!! (Without a MISTI, no less, go you! I can't use one so I am without, too! We may be the only two left in Blogland not using one!!) Thank you so much for playing in my NBUS Challenge! Hugs, Darnell

  4. My lips are sealed, Maria ... I recognised that basket in an instant ... and it's a brilliant use of that particular article!! Gorgeous gourds piled up inside ... and all set against a delicious soft background! Even though your stamping is just perfect, you really do need a MISTI ... it will change your life!! Hugs, Anita :)

  5. Ooh, clever use of the W&W Cutaway, and I love how you've filled the basket with a diecut harvest. Love the gold splatter.
