CUTplorations christmas release blog hop - day 1

Welcome to the blog today. It's day 1 of our blog hop introducing a couple new STAMPlorations stamp sets with coordinating CUTplorations dies (as well as some fabby word dies - be sure to come back to see) perfect for Christmas projects. As always there are lots of prizes, for leaving comments as well as for joining us with the Flash Diecut Linky Party (any dies are welcome!).

And welcome to my study in CAS. This blog hop I'm all about keeping it simple. As in simple design. As in simple to make lots of 'em. As in simple to mail - well, more on that later. I hope especially those of you with MISTIs will appreciate how easy it would be to "mass produce" these CAS Christmas cards.

I used Shirley's new set, Christmas Reindeer. Aren't these images delightful?

I began by stamping the image and sentiment in Versafine black and added a touch of brown watercolor to the reindeer.

Keeping with the playful, cozy feel I added a knot of red embroidery floss as his nose.

And then I tried heat embossing the stamped image and sentiment with clear powder.

Keeping with the clean and shiny feel, Rudolph got a shiny red bead as a nose!

Then I took the same stamps and went for a more unexpected look, with a touch of elegance. I heat embossed everything gold.

And gave Rudolph an elegant glass bead as a nose.

What do you think? CAS is all about the white space. And choosing images which work well together. I think these do. The sentiment is actually the weighty part of the design and the reindeer just adds that "merry little" something. Which version do you like best?

p.s. As for mailable... not sure about the beads. The noses are all adhered with Matt Medium and that is super strong stuff, but I think the knot would be safest for mailing ;)

Thanks for coming by today. Check out what the rest of the team made! You'll find links to all our projects here.

I'm taking Rudolph over to these fun challenges:
One-Layer Simplicity - Back in Time (as in back to the days of waiting for that one night per Christmas season that "Rudolph" would be on TV)
Mod Squad - What's That You Say? where it's about concentrating on the sentiment
Simon Says Stamp Wedsneday Challenge - Clean and Simple
AAA Cards - Upcycling (those beads used to be on DD's stretchy elastic bracelets)

  15. SUPER CUTE cards Maria!!!
LOVE your CAS design and variants, I'm torn between the 1st FUN one with the touch of watercolour and floss nose and the ELEGANT 3rd one with the glorious golden embossing ... thinking about the challenges of my cards going through the mail, if I made them with the bead nose, they would be hand delivered, with the floss flying everywhere :) ... maybe a rhinestone would survive the post better, will definitely have to try that, because the pop of red and dimension do make them special!!!
THANK YOU for the INSPIRATION, I struggle with CAS and think these would be wonderful for spreading Christmas CHEER and be easier for me to make in multiples too!!!
