Time for card number four made with the Up the Happy set from Essentials by Ellen. This is for a challenge over at Anna K.'s blog, called CASometry. What a fabulous idea she came up with for this challenge - use one stamp set to make five cards. I'm nowhere near running out of ideas yet. We all need to do this with many sets that sit unloved in our craft rooms...
Had some fun with the technique of stamping with watercolors. After stamping my sentiment I brushed some watercolors onto the balloon stamp (TIP: Use the reverse of the outline stamp in order to get a solid image. If necessary, place a piece of foam adhesive on your acrylic block inside the outline to give more support when you are stamping the image.) and stamped away. Started with the yellow up top and moved down with reds, oranges and finally two purple balloons.
I sketched a couple strings and highlights a la Dawn E. of WPlus9. Doesn't that add a nice artsy touch? Well except for that one kinda straight line on the orange balloon. Got a little carried away with my "artsy fartsy-ness"!
I thought about adding enamel dots like Dawn did. Or a few white sequins. But in the end I settled for a few spritzers of Perfect Pearl water mix and love the result. Can you see those little glimmer particles all over, even on the sentiment? Love that stuff.
I'm joining the AAA Cards challenge
And Stampin Royalty's One Layer Card challenge! Thanks for visiting.
Oh I keep seeing people doing this challenge and think of all the sets I have which lack love, and then I see inspiration like this! I love it - it's so artsy! Love the softness of it all. Xx

ReplyDeleteArtsy and dreamy, Maria! As Winnie the Pooh said ... no one can be uncheered with a balloon ... and there's lots of uncheeredness here! Hugs, Anita :)

ReplyDeletePerfection! What a stunning card!
ReplyDeleteI adore balloon stamps and have over the past year added a couple of stamp sets to my inventory because I love them so much. What I hadn't thought to do was to stamp them on the reverse to get such a lovely loose watercolour look - thank you for this awesome idea! I actually popped over from AAA Cards Challenge to take a closer look and I am so happy that I did Karen x
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely wonderful!!! What an interesting technique, and the sketched lines give such a fabulous effect. Thanks for linking up and playing with at AAA Cards!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely artsy (and a little fartsy!). :) Fantastic design Maria. You always inspire me. I agree with you about challenging ourselves to use a stamp several different ways. Too many of my stamps are unused and covered with dust! :) xx
ReplyDeleteLove the loose watercolor look with a few sketched lines for a little bit of definition. Fab card, Maria!
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love how you did this -- fabulous card!
ReplyDeleteOh, be still, my beating heart! All that lovely watercolour, the loose pen work, the ombré, the big sentiment - artsy-fartsy indeed!
ReplyDeleteI am blown away by this stunning card, Maria! How did I ever miss it? So happy that our friend Shirley sent me by .. phenomenal, truly.
