yes, virginia it is a glitter beard

It's kind of a crazy day (this is my fourth post for the day), but TODAY the first thing on my list was to make a card for Virginia's View Challenge #21.  Unfortunately, it's going to be the last challenge for, a while. For, ever? Virginia has decided she's going to take a break and I want to make sure she has a fantastic last hurrah! She's been so inspiring this past year. And always on top of the trends.


And I felt compelled (yep) to make an unconventional card. Did you catch this a couple days ago? People, this was trending on Instagram!!!  Wait, is it Dec 1st or April Fool's?!?!?



Anyhoo (OMG... "morningwood")... anyhoo, meet my glitter beard.


Well, not really MY beard (although in the whole cray cray realm of this trend I hear the ladies are glittering their armpit hair - what?!?!?! - now too). OK, I'm done, I promise.

Since you may never visit me again (doesn't that guy on the left look like Ellen DeGeneres???), before you go let me tell you how I made this.


I grabbed the Sunday Stamps sketch #114, Waltzingmouse Around Christmastime stamp set and my gold glitter glue and glitter. Stamped the image in black and heat embossed it clear. Copic colored the hat and went to town glittering Santa's beard, first with the glitter glue and then I dumped on the loose glitter. A la The Gay Beards.

A panel of Pink Paislee Luxe PP, which is so cool cuz it's also shiny like the heat embossed area, and a strip of red GLITTER CS later, I was done! Join the fun at Virginia's, won't you? I'm off to hook up at:

    Oh my, Maria....your creativity never cease to amaze me ( and I said that many times already)!! The gold beard looks fitting on Santa and does add that touch of festivity!! I did watch the video and was quite intrigued....now if only I can convince hubby to grow a beard AND put glitter on. That might be a challenge, you think? The biggest challenge might be that he hates making a mess! Thank you for your awesome support with this challenge and I so appreciate that you are huge part of this! Danke scheon!! xo

    This caught my eye at The Challenge! Such striking colors and the gold beard is awesome, Maria. I haven't seen the glitter beard trending (hahahaha!), but I'll keep my eyes open for it and remember I heard it first here :) ~

    Cute idea ..cool glitter n santa Hat and great used the Sunday Stamps sketch...great chevron there too..I have so less chevron Maria...tell me please which brand is it...I must buy...my mail is monik1973(at)yahoo(dot)com...thanks for your nice words to my christmas bauble with reindeer card..you make me blush.hugs

    hmmmm too much info re the armpit hair? LOL. I've seen this trend with the glittered beards lol. LOVE your Santa, he looks awesome with getting his glitter on! xx

    Ha ha, really fun! Those guys didn't need to experiment glitter on their beards, they could have asked to a card maker and anyone would have told them that glitter sticks everywhere :). But ok, they had a different purpose. Love your Santa's glittery beard. When I saw that stamp in b&w and in small size, at WMS, I couldn't understand for a moment what that image was representing :s. Yours is very easy to understand. Gorgeous card too!

    If there was EVER a beard that was crying out to be trendy and glittered it was THIS beard! Your eye for design and your brilliant execution never cease to amaze me, Maria!     I'll admit that glitter beards kind of creep me out at my age... but your Santa's beard is much better than most! (I definitely see Ellen in that one guy, too....) Great design if I may say so, all festive and sparkly. Really a fun card Maria! Just love it! Bev
