First I pulled out my newest AE stamps - the Storybook line. Gathered all the precious little critters and created a gathering. Many critters giving many thanks...
This did not turn out as I envisioned it. I really don't like the grass - any suggestions? And the fox appears to be sitting on the mouse's nose! And the strip of PP in the middle? What up with that, eh? Let's just say it is supposed to represent the sky and the sunshine.
The truth? I had two-tone inked and stamped the sentiment with black and coral. Didn't like it. Stamped it just coral on another piece of CS, trimmed and adhered it over the original. Hmmm, the seam bugged me. Searching my tiny strips of PP to put along the seam I discovered this beauty from the top of some 6x6 sheet with that sweet "hello friend" on it. It needed to go on this card. But the hole in the strip - what to do with the hole? Now you know why there's an enamel dot (sun) gracing my card ;)
I'm taking my hoard of critters over to the All Creatures Great and Small challenge at SSS.
So on to a card I'm very happy with.
Creme CS. One stamp (plus a heat embossed sentiment) from Modern Leaves and some masking. Some colorful (Adirondack Ink)blooms and tiny black filler images from Oh Happy Day. One layer. B/W. Colorful. Happy.
I'm taking these flowers over to CAS on Sunday's Challenge #51 - Flowers.
Thanks for coming by.
Wow !! it's incredibly wonderful work!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards which make me smile big time ;)
ReplyDeleteOff to catch up on your latest posts Maria...
Critters all sitting at attention! I think they look mighty cute...and the fox doesn't look like he's sitting on Miss Mouse's nose to me. The grass give each of them a place to sit; it adds a nice depth of field in my book. Your second card is simply smashing! Well done, and I'm calling this one a winner! Great colors on those bitty flowers. Love it. Bev
ReplyDeleteI think your critters card turned out quite cute and your sky with the sunshine dot worked out brilliantly!
ReplyDeleteThe next one layer...LOVE. The leaf shape and how it looks suspended and tumbling, the colourful posies, the black dots and sentiment placement...this all equates to a beautiful work of art. Bravo!
I LOVE those critters all gathered together! The fox is not on the mouse's nose, you've just been looking at this too hard. Before I read how the enamel dot came to be in the strip of patterned paper, I was going to say that I thought it was clever to embed an embellishment like that - I still think so! I'm with you on the second card - bright, bold, and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAlso wanted to thank you for letting me know about Bev! I don't live close, but it's exciting to know we are not that far apart either!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! The first card is so cute with all the animals and the gorgeous sentiment! And, the second card is bright with lovely colorful flowers!:-)
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are fabulous! The critters are so cute! And I think your grass looks just fine. The only other things I could think of for grass, would be to use some distress inks and make a 'grass' or possibly shade (or even watercolor) grass around each critter...I don't know, just some thoughts. ;) Your second card is very bold and happy! <3
ReplyDeleteSuper cute cards!
ReplyDeleteI like that bit of green grass among the black and white critters! And the mouse looks in front of the fox to me! I love your explanation of your cover up. How many times have I done the same thing. Anything to salvage a card! It actually looks very good and I would never have guessed.
ReplyDeleteBoth creations are just gorgeous and I especially love the gathering of the little critters.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful weekend.

ReplyDeleteI got the sun and sky straight off, Maria ... and thought the enamel dot was especially inset! Sweet array of critters ... they seem to be very comfortable with the cool grass! LOVE your bloom and leaf delight ... bright, bold and really rather delicious! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteYour thank you card is so unusual and I think it's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI quite like the gathering of animals...very effective leaving them uncoloured :0)
ReplyDeleteMy fave is the pops of colour amongst the masked leaves though...gorgeous :)
