polka dot snuggly elephants (Paper Smooches)

One of my favorite stamp sets out there is an oldie, but goodie from Paper Smooches, A Little Lovin' - don't ya just love the name alone? My favorite image is the snuggling elephants. And I reach for the "welcome baby" sentiment for nearly all baby cards I make, like here and here. Here's another one for ya.

Debossed the circle die into the card front as a frame.  Stamped and paper pieced the elephants. Thought the dangling sentiment reminded a bit of a mobile which hangs in the nursery, and the circle shapes mimic the polka dots. Even added a strip of PP to the inside (note to self: why don't I do that more often?)

Happy that this happy card was published in the March 2014 issue of Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking in the Polka Dots for Baby feature. (And I'm sharin' a page with the one and only Jocelyn O. and one of her digi cuties.)

I'm playing at Paper Smooches Sparks where this week's theme is Anything Goes! Thanks for coming by.  Come back tomorrow - there's a blog hop with giveaway coming your way...

  3. Absolutely perfect. And the rounded corner with the hard-edged polka dot paper peeking out. The play on patterns (circles/lines). Love this and want to keep looking!

  6. I love that set, too, and am using it in my post tomorrow. I love how you used those sweet elephants (adorably dressed) for a baby card; they are perfect for that! And the "mobile" on the side? Genius, as always! No surprise that you have garnered another publication! Congratulations, Maria!! Hugs, Darnell

  11. Maria, this is darling, seriously, seriously cute! Love the paper pieced elephants, the circle tags and the strip of patterned paper. I may have to borrow this idea from you to make a dent in my patterned paper stash! :) Thanks for sharing your talent with this week's SPARKS challenge!

  12. I love this and saw it at the PS blog. I lost it and literally spent a week looking for it again with the stamp set on my desk the entire time so I can CASE it. I'm a subscriber to the mag but since they went digital, I haven't opened one up and it looks like I'm missing a lot. So glad I found this card again! I have a new baby grandson coming in March - my first grand baby ever. So excited about this, of course, and this is a wonderful card to make for him.

  13. Maria ~

I just found your blog, and I absolutely LOVE this card. No surprise that it was published!! Congrats!!

I have a quick (probably stupid) question for you. How did you adhere the dangling circles to the card to be certain they don't fall off?

    Thanks for the inspiration!!
