patriotic birthday take one (CFC, CASOS)

Must admit I don't usually make patriotic cards.  Not really a need for 'em here in Germany - at least not red, white and blue ones ;)  But two cards in blogland  and two challenges inspired me. There's a card out there somewhere (sorry I can't find it again) that paired red and blue Distress Inks which I had never thought of doing!  And this card from Barb M. employs a clever technique that adds so much to one-layer cards.

So DH will be getting this soon (actually works well considering our approaching trip to the USA).

Don't look too closely or you'll see a wonky and slightly smeared sentiment... Wida M., any cures for that?Just love the colors together and the effect achieved by trimming out the edge.

I'm parking at CFC #106 and CAS on Sunday One-Layer.

I'll be back tomorrow with this card's cousin.  Couldn't get enough of the color combo!  And just keep watching...next week I'll be starting my Parade of Rejects - publication wannabees that weren't!

Supplies happy birthday:
Paper: Bringmann
Stamps: sentiment PTI
Ink: Distress Ink, Versafine
Tools:star die Sizzix, scissors
Other: Post-It, makeup sponge

Thud! This is so perfect! love the inking techniques...it looks windswept...like the sentiment ;)

Thank you for the nod to my fruity lil creation. It was an a-ha kinda cardmaking moment but I'll be using that kind of edge again

I love your card Maria, really like how you have done the stars - both the colour and the cut out at the bottom. Thank you for the comment you left on my blog re: cardstock. Docrafts don't do cardstock in sheets but I do like their card bases - thank you!

Well, your stars are wonky and smudgy, so they match perfectly with your title, right?! It was meant to be! Your stars look so dainty holding up the card, and that red and blue together is very striking. Save your rejects for another call, why not? It's worked several times for me. I pull the plug after the second try though : )

Wow, what a great card using some very cool inking and fussy cutting! Being from the USA, I have to admit that I ADORE this card! So glad you joined us at CASology this week!

Your two toned stars are fabulous...I may have to steal or borrow ( that sounds better) this idea. So glad you linked it up with us at CAS on Sunday...or I would have missed it. Thanks for playing!

What a super cool effect on the stars, Maria! And regarding the rejects, why don't you wait a bit and give them another chance? I've had several rejections picked up for publication the second time I submitted them. You never know... :)
Thanks for joining us this week at CAS-ual Fridays!
